Bayfield again failed to beat the bottom of the league side and will soon occupy that position themselves if results do not start improving. An unfortunate no-show meant that Bayfield went into the field with only 10 men. Runs came steadily with the gaps in the field (and in fielding ability), but at least the Ecclesfield innings was punctuated by two great catches by Alf Hobson, a spectacular backwards fall by Simon France and a dismissal by Dave Laing which put one of the bails over the boundary rope! In reply, the usual poor slow early scoring rate, which always puts us in trouble, continued, and the steady loss of wickets in trying to redeem the situation meant that Bayfield never looked like reaching their target and had to settle for just a single point from about five overs out. Man of the Match: Dave Laing (once again - what a state we'd be in without this man).
